The Economic Development Council of Maine is committed to promoting an exchange of ideas, practices and ethics in the field of economic development, and to providing a program of continuing information and education for its membership.
The Economic Development Council of Maine was founded in 1956 as the Industrial Development Council of Maine. A statewide organization, it was incorporated in 1990 as a non-profit association and is governed by adopted by-laws. A board of directors is elected annually by membership.
Networking and Advocacy
Quarterly meetings, the annual seminar, and the annual symposium provide opportunities to meet and interact with individuals involved in statewide economic development. If the need arises, EDCM can assist in legislative monitoring and testimony on state of Maine and federal legislation impacting economic development, as well as issue membership legislation positions and provide testimony to the State of Maine Legislature upon request.
